GHALLANAI: Three persons, including a Levies soldier and a contractor, were killed and two soldiers sustained injuries in separate blasts in the Baizai subdivision in Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Monday.
The sources said that Levies naib subedar Naseer Khan, contractor Umara Khan and another person were travelling in a vehicle near the Pak-Afghan border in Baizai subdivision when the vehicle was targeted with a roadside bomb, killing all of them on the spot.
Also, a security forces patrol vehicle was targeted with a roadside bomb in Baizai. Two security forces personnel sustained injuries. They were taken to the Mohmand Rifles Hospital in Ghallanai.
The security forces launched a search operation and arrested 16 tribesmen. Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan, who was in Mohmand Agency, rushed to the hospital and inquired after the health of the injured soldiers.
The governor condemned the blasts and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives. Sardar Mahtab directed the relevant officials that best medical treatment to be provided to the injured.
