Pakistan, Gulf countries share common future: Javed Malik

 DUBAI: Addressing diplomats and business leaders representing over 40 countries at a high-profile international diplomatic conference, Ambassador at Large Javed Malik highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s deep-rooted strategic relations with the Gulf countries.

He said Pakistan and the Gulf States shared a common heritage and faith besides similarity of cultures and close geographical proximity, while also sharing a common future. “The stability and progress of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries is vital to regional stability and Pakistan would continue to work with its friends and allies in the GCC to pursue the mutual goal of progress and prosperity in this region.”

Malik said around four million Pakistanis were residing in the seven GCC countries and positively engaged in various professions and businesses.“They not only contribute to the development of their host countries through their skills and hard work but also provide much-needed foreign exchange remittances for Pakistan.”

“The stability of the Gulf region is vital not only to the region but also to the people of Pakistan,” he added.He said the government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif believed in expanding the bilateral ties with the Gulf countries as there was immense potential to further enhance economic, trade and strategic ties with the region. In addition to diplomats, chairmen and CEOs of various companies, some members of the royal family and Pakistani businessmen were also present on the occasion.

The dean of diplomatic and consular corps in Dubai and Northern Emirates, Emad Madani, appreciated Malik’s efforts to promote goodwill and friendship and create opportunities for diplomats and business leaders to connect on the prestigious platform of international diplomats club.
