Failing our students
Favouritism is rampant in the higher education institutes of Pakistan. It has become extremely common for teachers to reward their favourite students with better grades and percentages as compared to their class fellows. Sometimes, these teachers do not even teach a single class, but still manage to grade students based on personal interactions.
Students are helpless in this matter as the semester system grants an authority to teachers that cannot be challenged at any level. This has brought the future of many capable students to the brink of destruction. This is particularly problematic for female students who are sometimes harassed by instructors and cannot fight back for fear of failing the course. I request the concerned authorities to implement policies to correct this issue and devise a new system.
