The Sindh government announced on Tuesday that all public and private educational institutions, including universities, would remain closed today on account of the first anniversary of the December 16 terror attack on a school in Peshawar.
The announcement was made by the education department after it got permission from Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
The notification for the universities was issued by Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad.
The holiday decision aims to commemorate 144 victims, including 132 children, who lost their lives in the Army Public School massacre, one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in the history of the country.
