MUZAFFARABAD: Three persons lost their lives and one was injured after a car they were on board met with an accident in the jurisdiction of Dhirkot police station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday morning, police said.
The car was coming from Arja to Dhirkot when it was struck by huge boulders that sliced from the roadside mountain near Mukhyala, hardly three kilometres before its destination.
As a result, Police Constable Shiraz Ahmed, Forest Department official Farman Ali and Abrar Ahmed were killed but Arshad Iqbal survived miraculously. Villagers used axes to cut the partly visible wreckage and pulled him out. He was said to be stable. The bodies of the remaining three persons on board were recovered from beneath the boulders a little later with the help of an excavator. Burials of the deceased were held in the afternoon.
