Two doctors to receive presidential award posthumously
SUKKUR: President Arif Alvi on Tuesday (today) will confer presidential award on the late Dr Shafquat Sheikh, additional civil surgeon, Civil Hospital, Khairpur, and Dr Willayat Gopang, additional civil surgeon, Civil Hospital, Khairpur, to honour their services against Covid-19.
The sons of both doctors, Mir Muhammad Sheikh and Muhammad Faisal Gopang respectively, will receive the awards during a ceremony held on March 23 at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) representative Dr Zaffar Jatoi hailed the decision, saying both the doctors had sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
He said the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic seemed more dangerous than before. The PMA demanded the authorities to provide PPE kits and special risk allowance to frontline
workers.
