Police on Monday registered a case against a private school in Nazimabad for alleged mistreatment of a grade-VII girl student.

The FIR No 307/21 was registered at the Rizvia police station on behalf of the girl’s father, Adil Ansari, against the private school administration. The sections for illegal confinement and threats were included in the FIR, in which the complainant nominated the school principal, Tufail, and other staff members, including Ovais and Ali Abbas.

The complainant claimed that her 12-year-old daughter was harassed by the administration for three days over non-payment of dues. The school administration also allegedly locked her up in the guard’s room.

The father stated that he was suffering economic constraints due to the coronavirus lockdown and could not pay the school fees of her daughter for seven months. He added that of late he had paid three months dues and had requested the school administration to allow him to pay two-month fees each month in order to clear the remaining dues.

However, despite agreeing to the terms, he alleged that the school administration continued to harass his daughter by making her stand outside the classroom for the whole day. He added that the girl was also not allowed to eat the lunch kept in her bag and on one day, she was locked up in the guard’s room.

The father said that he had been fed up with the school administration’s attitude and so he decided to file a case against the school administration over mistreating his daughter. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Dua Bhutto also reached the police station and assured the family of her support. Police said a case had been registered and investigations were under way.
