In March 2015, I purchased a locally-manufactured car in Peshawar. The tyres had been giving me trouble from the very beginning, and eventually one of the tyres burst on the Islamabad-Peshawar motorway. While getting the tire repaired, the mechanic told me that all four tyres were effectively gone. With time, the rubber can get hard and lose its flexibility, due to which the tire loses road grip, causing accidents.
All owners of locally-manufactured cars should inspect their tyres. Most of them have a passed expiration date that has deliberately been rubbed off. The relevant authorities should look into this matter as using expired tyres not only amounts to criminal negligence, it also brings into question the usefulness of the government regulatory organisations.
