ANF recovers Rs855 million drugs

In 10 operations in different parts of the country on Tuesday, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized drugs, including 272.2 kilograms of  charas, 31 kilograms of heroin and 3 kilograms of opium. The ANF also arrested 12 persons and impounded 2 vehicles. The value of the seized drugs is Rs855.58 million in international market, the ANF Headquarters said.

The ANF Rawalpindi road checking team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a Suzuki Cultus car, bearing registration number ANF-224-Karachi, near Balkasar Interchange and recovered 84 kilograms of  charas after thorough search of the vehicle. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene.

The ANF Rawalpindi-Gilgit team arrested Muhammad Sharif, a resident of Dasu, Kohistan, from Ghari Bagh, Gilgit, after recovery of 1 kilogram of charas from his possession. A per reports, the culprit is a street drug supplier.

The ANF Rawalpindi arrested Shoukat Khan, aresident of Khyber Agency, from Dina Bus Stand, GT Road, Jhelum, after recovery of 1.2 kilograms of charas from his possession. As per initial investigation, the accused intended to carry drugs to Lahore for supply at local level.

The ANF Quetta road check team, in an intelligence-based operation, intercepted a Toyota Corolla car, registration number LOG-593, from General Area of Said Hameed Cross, Chaman-Quetta Road, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah, and recovered 167 kilograms of charas and 3 kilograms of opium concealed inside the car. As per preliminary investigation, the consignment was in transit to Quetta for onward delivery to Karachi for local consumption.

The ANF Peshawar road check team intercepted a Toyota Hiace, registration number LES-6499, near Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, and arrested a female smuggler, Niaz Meena, a resident of Peshawar. The van's search resulted in recovery of 8.4 kilograms of charas. In another case, The ANF Peshawar intercepted a passenger bus having registration number LES-6886) and recovered 1.2 kilograms of  charas from personal possession of Muhammad Asghar, a resident of Sargodha.

Acting on a tip-off, the ANF Lahore apprehended Mohsin Raza, a resident of Faisalabad, from Daewoo Bus Stand, Faisalabad, after recovery of 3 kilograms of charas concealed in the suitcase owned by the accused.

During routine profiling, the ANF Lahore road check team arrested Muhammad Shahzad, a resident of Lahore, at Talagang Road, Mianwali. The search of the accused resulted in recovery of 2.4 kilograms of charas.

On a tip-off, the ANF Lahore conducted a raid near Thokar Niaz Baig, and arrested Ijazul Haq and Amanullah Khan, residents of Charsadda and Peshawar respectively. On their search, 15 kilograms of heroin was recovered from their possession.

The ANF Lahore apprehended 3 persons, namely Misri Khan, a resident of Jumrood, Peshawar, Robina Saleem, a resident of Bada Bair, Peshawar, and Munawwara Iftikhar, a resident of Sargodha, after recovery of 16 kilograms of heroin from their possession.

The ANF Lahore road check team arrested Hashim Khan, a resident of Mianwali, at Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad, after recovery of 4 kilograms of charas from their possession.
