PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) head Senator Sirajul Haq said on Wednesday that on the one hand the security forces had launched a military operation against the terrorists while on the other Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba had also waged war against illiteracy.
Addressing the talent award ceremony of the IJT in the Nishtar Hall, he presented the manifesto of the ‘Islamic Khushal Pakistan’ where every child would get free education and treatment against five deadly diseases.
“We will provide free treatment to those having cardiac problem, thalassaemia, hepatitis, cancer and kidney issues,” Sirajul Haq said. He added the peasants and labourers would get due share in production from the agricultural land as well as industries as they were the people who made all-out efforts but the owners didn’t pay them well.
The JI chief said that in the new ‘Islamic Khushal Pakistan,’ every senior citizen above the age of 70 would be given an allowance so their children didn’t consider them a burden. He added that if corruption was eliminated, all the problems could be addressed.
Sirajul Haq said that billions of rupees were being looted in the country every year which can be put to a better use for the welfare of the people. He said that it was the members of the JI who never committed corruption during the 68 years history of the country.
The JI chief said that the main focus of Pakistan should be on education as ‘we are far behind in this sector from the rest of the world.’ “Only one province of India, Uttar Pradesh, has produced more PhDs than the whole of Pakistan. Our main problem is the flawed education system as no one from the elite send their kids to the government schools where the quality of education is poor,” maintained Sirajul Haq.
He added that under the current system, no one from a poor family can enter the parliament or become a minister and only a few families were left to remain in power. “If we come into power, PhD scholars will be teaching primary students. We will sacrifice much for the sake of education but will improve its system if we came into power,” said Sirajul Haq. Other JI leaders, including Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Zubair Hafeez and Shah Zaman Durrani also spoke on the occasion.
