Eight schemes approved

The Punjab government has approved eight development schemes of various sectors at an estimated cost of Rs13.559 billion. These schemes were approved in the 16th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2015-16 presided over by the Punjab Chairman P&D Board Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. Members of the Planning and Development Board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting. According to the spokesman for P&DD, the approved development schemes included: construction of minor Karkan Kartarpur Chak 177 to Kartarpur, Nankana Sahib at a cost of Rs357.13 million, extension of water facilities in extended controlled area recently notified by the Punjab government at the cost of Rs250.523 million, provision of sewerage for UC-117, 118, and 120, Lahore at a cost of Rs7.610 billion; construction of flyover at Katcha Jail Road Crossing and improvement of At-Grade Road Network, Lahore at a cost of Rs1.06 billion, replacement of outlived rusty and leaking pipelines and extension of distribution system (New) in leftover areas with allied works in Wasa jurisdiction, Rawalpindi (Gastro Project Phase-II) at a cost of Rs499.794 million, establishment of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Bahawalpur (Revised) at the cost of Rs2.943 billion, Lahore Tourist Bus Service (Revised) at a cost of Rs239.378 million, construction of Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication (PPIC3) Centre at Qurban Lines, Lahore at a cost of Rs605.630 million. —Correspondent
