A boy was subjected to severe torture by an imam of a local mosque in Baghbanpura on Tuesday.
The injured boy identified as Osama was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was said to be out of danger. Police said the boy had severe marks of torture on various parts of his body. His family accused imam Yahya of torturing their son. They filed an application to the police. No case was registered till filing of the report.
RESCUERS: First batch of rescuers from Balochistan passed out after six-month long intensive training programme at the Emergency Services Academy. The ceremony involved the firefighting; rescue, emergency medical care, rescue from height, deep well rescue and other emergency management demonstrations by rescuers of Balochistan. Punjab DG Emergency Service was the chief guest, while the Additional Home Secretary, Punjab, Director General, Balochistan Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) & Rescue 1122 were the guests of honour. Registrar Emergency Services Academy and other dignitaries from different government and non-government organisations participated in the ceremony. During his welcome address, DG Rescue congratulated the rescuers and the government of Balochistan on this initiative, which would ensure timely emergency care to the victims of emergencies without any discrimination. He said he felt proud that rescuers from Balochistan had completed their rigorous professional training. He appreciated the leadership of Punjab CM for his sincere efforts in providing technical assistance for replication of this emergency service earlier in KPK; AJ&K, Gilgit Baltistan and now in Balochistan. “Chief minister was the first top government functionary, who dispatched Rescue 1122 Special Teams to KPK to assist their brethren in the time of need during recent earthquake,” he said, adding the local administration also profoundly admired the role of Rescue 1122 Punjab in KPK.
He said Rescue 1122 has rescued over 3.8 million emergency victims, responded to over 70,000 fire incidents and created sense of safety among citizens of Punjab during last 11 years. He said over 10,000 emergency personnel have got professional training from Emergency Services Academy and it was 1st Batch of Balochistan and hoped the rescuers of Balochistan shall also maintain the same standard of services delivery in that province. Citing the performance by Rescue 1122 at Sundar Industrial Estate Factory Collapse, the Additional Secretary Home said that Rescue 1122 had done a commendable job. “In very short span of time, you people have proved a committed and well equipped force to deal any kind of disaster in this beloved homeland,” he said, adding the Punjab government is always ready to assist other provinces in form of technical assistance, training and other logistic support. He said besides response on emergencies, Rescue 1122 is doing good job pertaining to prevention of emergencies while providing training of basic life support to the citizens of Punjab.
Director General, PDMA, Balochistan Tahir Munir thanked the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, DG Rescue Punjab and the people of Punjab for this kind gesture of brotherhood for providing technical assistance to replicate this international standard emergency services in Balochistan.
WARDENS GIVEN CASH PRIZES: CTO gave away cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each to three wardens for catching a car lifter and recovered a stolen jeep from his possession. The three traffic wardens Naveed, Naveed Sattar and Awais had caught a car lifter, Ramzan, in Lower Mall area and recovered a stolen jeep from his possession. DIG Investigation Sultan Ch said that a separate division established for anti-vehicle lifting staff recovered 17 cars and four bikes during the last few weeks. Addressing a press conference at his office, he said anti-vehicle lifting staff would set up model pickets at entry and exit points of the city. Later, the DIG handed over 17 cars and four bikes to their owners.
