PESHAWAR: Students have expressed concern over closure of a private medical university and asked the provincial government to immediately reopen the institute to save their future.
Addressing a news conference on Monday, Pak-Afghan Students Federation President Naik Muhammad said the officials of Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) and district administration had sealed the Imam Ghazali Medical University and created problems for its students.
Flanked by Dr Akbar Hussain, Shabbir Ali, Samiullah, and others, he said the students had already paid hefty admission and tuition fees during studies in last five years. He said the closure of the university was an injustice with them.
“We have asked the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar several times through communiqués for registration of the varsity but nothing was done,” he said.He added that officials of the district administration conducted a raid two days ago, and sealed the university.
