ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Asad Umer Monday said they had constituted a special committee to keep an eye on involvement of SHOs or patwaris in the election campaign for upcoming local bodies’ elections but so far they had found no such activity in the capital city.
Talking to The News, Asad, who heads the campaign in Islamabad, said: “Despite consistent efforts we have found no SHO or patwari influencing voters in favor of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N).”
“Honestly speaking, we have also monitored government departments especially the education department, but we can say that no posting, transfer or recruitment has been made after the imposition of ban by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP),” he said.
He said they had also reviewed the release of funds for ongoing development projects like construction of roads.
“The funds of these ongoing development projects were allocated in the annual federal budget so we can’t raise any objection in this respect. But the timing of initiation of development projects is definitely objectionable because the government is trying to influence voters through these projects,” he added.
The PTI leader said there was a strong competition among the party workers to get tickets and it was the party’s endeavour to award tickets purely on merit.
