ISLAMABAD: At least eight seats of federal secretaries have been lying vacant for quite some time. It is said that these key posts have not been filled for want of suitable officers in the cadre. Instead junior officers have been assigned the top slots on acting basis. The seat of principal secretary to the prime minister has fallen vacant with effect from November 10th with the superannuation of Javed Aslam.
Secretary communication, the most important post due to handling of all major projects with Pakistani funding as well as China Pakistan Economic Corridor, needs much more attention. Shahid Tarar, Chairman National Highway, is holding the additional charge of the post.
Due to the energy crisis, secretary water and power position is also have immense importance. Younis Daga, a Grade 21 officer, is serving as secretary incharge. Secretary Information Technology Azmat Ranjah is holding the charge of the ministry as secretary incharge.
The post of secretary information and national heritage is vacant after retirement of Muhammad Azam, and Saba Mohsin grade 21 officer has been given the charge of post as secretary incharge.
The slot of secretary of inter-provincial coordination is also vacant after the retirement of Ejaz Chaudhry. Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera is the Secretary Incharge in Privatisation Commission.
