FAISALABAD: Millat Town police on Monday booked 71 people for staging a protest and block Sargodha Road against the Ali Town police for torturing a youth in police station. According to complainant ASI Muhammad Afzal, he and other policemen asked the demonstrators to end their protest as a case had already been registered against the policemen allegedly involved in torture of a student Muhammad Saad in the police lock-up but they did not respond and continued their protest. The case has been registered against 71 people including Muhammad Akbar, 20 nominated and 50 unidentified people of Bawa Chak, under sections 290/291, 283/341 and 147/149.
RICKSHAW DRIVER HELD FOR ‘MURDER’: Tariqabad police on Monday arrested a rickshaw driver who had brought a dead body to the police post. Rickshaw driver Tariq Shah of Mohallah Feroz Shah told the police that an unidentified man hired his rickshaw for Samundri Road from GT Road Stand and put his luggage in the rickshaw. The unidentified man asked the rickshaw driver to wait for five minutes but he did not return. The rickshaw driver said that he searched the luggage and found an unidentified dead body of a youth concealed in the luggage. Rickshaw driver Tariq said that he rushed to the Tariqabad police post and narrated the whole story to incharge Moharrar but he held him responsible for this murder and arrested him. The police have shifted the dead body to the Allied Hospital for autopsy.
