SHC grants protective bail to real estate consultants

The Sindh High Court granted protective pre-arrest bail to two real estate consultants on Monday in an illegal allotment case.
Mohammad Akhlaq Memon and Mohammad Usman moved the court for obtaining protective bail in connection with a NAB inquiry for the allotment of a property of over 2,500 square yards in the Clifton area.
The counsel for the petitioners submitted that the National Accountability Bureau wanted to arrest the petitioners in connection with the inquiry into the sale of the KMC property. He said one of the accused, Aslam Parekh, was already on bail and sought protective pre-arrest bail.
The court granted pre-arrest bail to the petitioners and directed them to join the investigation being conducted by NAB.
Detention cases
The high court issued notices to provincial and federal law officers on petitions against the detention of citizens allegedly by personnel of law enforcement agencies.
Ayesha Omer submitted in her petitioner that law enforcers took into custody her two sons, Zubair Nazeer and Omer Nazeer, workers of a company in the Nooriabad area, on October 10 and their whereabouts were still unknown.
Mohammad Farooq submitted that his brother, Noor Hussain, was picked up in North Karachi on September 24.
The petitioners requested the court to direct the government agencies to provide details of cases if any against them.
Judge appointed
Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto has been appointed as administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts in Karachi.
The appointment came following a direction of the monitoring judge of Supreme Court Justice Amir Hani Muslim, who ordered the appointment of an administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts to deal with the transfer of anti-terrorism cases and other administrative issues.
The monitoring judge, while presiding over a meeting held to review the progress of ATCs at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry on October 13, had observed that there were serious complaints regarding the transfer of anti-terrorism cases due to the non-availability of an administrative judge of ATCs, whereas the presiding officers of the ATCs had been made as administrative judges in different districts of Karachi.
According to a notification issued by the home department, Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto has been appointed as administrative judge for the ATCs in Karachi, while Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi will be alternate administrative judge of the courts in the absence of Justice Phulpoto.
