Two suspected members of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi were arrested by police and explosives found in a raid conducted in Altaf Nagar, Manghopir on Friday.
SSP West Azfar Mahesar said acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at the terrorists’ hideout and arrested two men following a shootout while their associates managed to escape.
The two men were identified as Qari Siraj and Shamsher Pathan.
The official said they were injured in the encounter.
The police found 10 kilogrammes of of explosive material, two grenades, detonators, nall bearings, nut bolts, a remote control, batteries, bullets of different calibres and jihadist literature at the hideout. The SSP said that the terrorists were apparently planning to carry out an attack in Karachi.
