Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the loss of human lives due to earthquake in the country.
The chief minister while terming the earthquake as a tragedy said that the entire nation was grieved over the loss of lives and property due to earthquake. He expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the heirs of the deceased and prayed for early recovery of the injured. He said the Punjab government equally shares the grief of the bereaved families.
Soon after the earthquake, the chief minister directed all departments and institutions concerned to immediately start relief activities in the affected areas. He ordered PDMA, Rescue-1122 and other institutions to remain alert with the administration. He directed that rescue activities should immediately be started in affected areas without waiting for any order and rescue teams should immediately reach the affected places. He directed that best treatment facilities should be provided to the persons injured due to earthquake in some areas of the province. He directed to accelerate relief activities in earthquake-hit areas and all possible relief should be provided to the affectees. He said that no effort should be spared in providing best treatment to the injured.

Talking to the KP chief minister on phone, Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government was ready to immediately send medical teams as well as staff and machinery concerned to KP for rescue and relief activities. He said the Punjab government was standing with affected families of the KP and we would not leave them alone in this hour of trial. He said that we are earnestly ready for helping our brethren in distress. He said that necessary instructions had been issued to departments concerned to immediately send trucks carrying relief items to the affected areas of KP. He said that the trucks carrying medicines, eatable items and blankets would immediately be sent to affected districts of KP.
