Talking to newsmen before the flag march, CPO Muhammad Azhar Akram said that police had made strict security measures to maintain the law and order. Meanwhile, the main procession of Muharram 9 will be taken out from an Imambargah at Mumtazabad, said procession leader Syed Anis Haider Naqvi.
He said that more than 150 small and big Alam processions would join the main procession. Meanwhile, sources said that police had been ordered to remain high alert on Muharram 9 and 10 in the district. The cellular services will remain suspended across Mumtazabad and some other parts of Multan today.
The sources said that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had declared 13 districts, including Multan, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Sargodha, as sensitive. They said that security forces had planned aerial surveillance of Muharram 9 processions across the district.
