Authoritative sources have strongly denied a report published in the Times of India on Thursday claiming that a Pakistan submarine had fired at four Indian boats near the shores of Jakhau village in Gujarat, injuring one Indian fisherman and arresting 24 others.
“This is once again a stupid report that will provide the world a good opportunity to laugh at the Indian mentality,” the sources said, adding that it was amazing how the Indians could come up with such incredulous material.
Strong denying the report, the sources put up a number of questions to the author of the report. Why was the Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency not present in the Exclusive Economic Zone and a submarine was sent to tackle the Indian fishing boats? How can a submarine detect wooden boats using its sonar? How did the Pak submarine fire at the Indian boats because they cannot use torpedoes and missiles which are very expensive for blowing up boats? Even if they had used a missile or torpedo, then why did they fail in blowing up the boat? How could a deep water submarine operate in shallow waters off the Indian coast? Suppose if there was a Pakistani submarine, where were the Indian Coast Guard vessels? How could a crowded diesel-electric submarine arrest and accommodate 24 Indian fishermen?
Recently, the Indian media had claimed that an Indian fisherman was killed after the Pakistan Navy opened fire on two Indian boats -- Premraj and Ramraj -- that had 5-6 fishermen on board off the Gujarat coast. This was denied by concerned Pakistani officials.
Before that, the Indian authorities had sunk a boat off the coast of the western Indian state of Gujarat, claiming that it was coming from Pakistan with explosives on board. The fabricated terrorist plot was exposed when the Indian Coast Guard DIG B K Loshali contradicted the government's version of events in connection with the interception of the boat and said the Indian Navy had itself blown up the boat, which had not been exploded by the alleged suicide attackers.
Also, on July 27, 2015 three gunmen opened fire on a bus in the Indian Punjab and then stormed a police station in a town called Dinanagar, a suspicious incident that was as per routine blamed on Pakistan.
The Modi government has limited intellectual capacity and powers of reasoning, the sources reminded again following the publication of the Pak submarine report. “One cannot stop laughing at the report,” they added. “It was a joke that made our day.”
