SUKKUR: Some PML-N workers got into a brawl in Khairpur before a public meeting of the party which was to be addressed by some central leaders of the party.
Reports said that Salim Zia, Sorath Thebo, Sindh PML-N president Ismail Rahu and Chaudhry Tariq, coordinator to the PM, had arrived in Khairpur to address the public meeting, but the brawl started even before the meeting began. The PML-N leaders tried to pacify their party workers, but their efforts did not succeed.
The PML-N leaders were left with no choice but to cancel the meeting and leave the venue.
Meanwhile, Ismail Rahu and Salim Zia, while talking to the media after the cancellation of the meeting, said that the Kalabagh Dam would not be built without the consent of the four provinces. They said that the federal government had released billions of rupees for Sindh, but the Sindh government committed corruption to the tune of billions of rupees. They said that the motorway project in Sindh initiated by the federal government would bring prosperity to the province. They alleged that some PML-N candidates for the local bodies’ elections were being harassed by police and the returning officers. They said that the Karachi operation would continue.
