Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold countrywide workshops in collaboration with Higher Education Commission for professional training of its regional offices staff enabling them to deliver best possible services to the students.
This is part of University s continuous efforts to promote good governance and bringing efficiency in academic administrative and financial matters said Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while addressing 2nd phase of indigenous in campus training programme held here on Monday.
He announced that AIOU will be developed as true learning organization through capacity building of its staff.
No organization can survive in contemporary comparative World without updating itself with latest knowledge and equipping with new trends.
Every worker needs to bring about qualitative improvement in its knowledge skill and attitude. The educational institutions he said added are now facing new challenges. In the present era when there is cut throat competition and fast growth of knowledge with development of new technology.
The AIOU is also being developed as a centre of social literacy and cultural activities focusing more on creative and knowledge based academic pursuits in order to motivate its students towards positive and healthy way of life.
Nearly 100 events were arranged during the last one year in which eminent personalities were invited to share experience and knowledge in their respective fields. Such events were also aimed at promoting knowledge skill and positive attitude among the students and its employees as well he added.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui further said since he joined the University a year ago he focused on creativity and constructing knowledge through various activities such as skill based lecture series distinguished lecture series book and author series research colloquium awareness and advocacy series media dialogue and ‘Mulaqat’ series. Besides this some national and international conferences were also arranged.
The priority areas of the University during the last one year were promotion of meaningful and relevant research. Seven research journals were produced while another will be come out by the end of this year.
This distinction was achieved in a short span of time. Student support system was strengthened and books mailing timely holding of exams and announcement of results were streamlined.
