No let-up in poultry price

Islamabad : The chicken price continues to be higher than the normal in Islamabad even after the Eid holidays are over.

The retailers blame higher prices on lower supplies and expect tangible reduction in them by the weekend.

According to the residents, live chicken and its meat was sold for Rs220 and Rs380 per kg on Thursday, while the rate of boneless meat was Rs480 per kg.

They said they'd opted for frozen chicken of popular brands, which was available for around Rs320 per kg. The residents complained about the district administration’s failure to regulate chicken prices even after the end of Eid days.

The retailers said poultry price had surged due to short supplies due to coronavirus-induced restrictions and lower demand on Eid. They, however, said supplies were likely to improve by the weekend or so to normalise prices.
