Different incidents in Karak claim eight lives
KARAK: Eight persons, two women among them, were killed and six others suffered serious injuries in different incidents in parts of the Karak district during the Eidul Fitr holidays, official sources said.
The police sources said on Tuesday two motorcycles collided head-on in Shahinullah Chowk on the Shah Saleem Road in Takht-i-Nusrati Tehsil. Eight bike riders sustained critical injuries in the accident. They were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where two of them identified as Farmanullah and Muhammad Nasir, residents of Darshakhel, succumbed to injuries.
Two other identified as Wahidullah and Balqias Khan, residents of Dag Banda, were admitted to the hospital. Doctors said they were serious. In the second road accident, two motorcycles going in the opposite direction on the Karak-Mianwali road in Serak Banda area collided.
Four persons were left injured. They were shifted to the THQ Hospital Takht-i-Nusrati where two of them identified as Imranullah and Shah Baraz, residents of Abbasi Wazir, succumbed to injuries. Two others identified as Said Rahim and Zahoor Rehman, residents of Abbasi, were admitted to the hospital. In another incident, a main high tension power supply line fell on a house and two women in the house suffered critical burn injuries.
The women were shifted to THQ Hospital Takht-i-Nusrati where the daughter of Asgher Khan succumbed to injuries. A stray bullet during festive firing hit a woman identified as Arooj in Zarki Nusrati, leaving her injured. She was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Karak.
The doctors referred her to a hospital in Peshawar for her critical condition but she succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital. A Management Sciences Department student of Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak, Amjad Islam, a resident of Gurguri, drowned in Sharqi Dam while swimming. The divers fished his body out after five hours and handed it to his relatives for burial.
