MANSEHRA: A young girl was burnt to death and her mother sustained burn injuries when some people allegedly set their house on fire over a monitory dispute in Bartoni area of Torghar the other day.
It was learnt that one Sherzada had reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on his rivals, Mohammad Ramiz and Sher Bahadur in which the latter received injuries and died instantly. Subsequently, Mohammad Ramiz rushed to Sherzada’s house and set it on fire as a result of which Naima, 10, and her mother were trapped inside their rooms. The local people scaled the walls of the house to rescue them. They pulled them out from heavy flames but Naima had died and her mother was shifted to nearby hospital in critical condition. According to police, Mohammad Ramiz had borrowed Rs150,000 from Sherzada and refused to return the loan. Lodging the first information report, the Judbah police arrested two accused.
Police shut down shops: The police forcibly got shops and business centres shut in Mansehra and rest of district on the third day of Eidul Fitr on Tuesday.
The cops took the action to enforce Covid-19 precautions as laid down by the government. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bashir Khan defended the step. He told reporters that shops and business centres which were reopened in violation of the government’s lockdown policy were got closed.
