Chicken price hits record high on Eid
Islamabad: Chicken price reached the record high here during Eidul Fitr holidays with the administration acting indifferently to the people's misery.
According to residents, live broiler chicken and chicken meat was sold at around Rs280 per kg and Rs450 per kg respectively in different markets of the city against the official rate of Rs215 per kg without any let or hindrance.
The residents opted for frozen chicken of popular brands that was available for less than 350 per kg.
They criticised the administration for failing to enforce price control. Some even accused it of conniving with poultry dealers. The residents wondered if the government wasn't to enforce the anti-profiteering ordinance, then why it promulgated it with much fanfare. The retailers also said sales were very low during Eid days.
