The Returning Officer for the Constituency NA-122 and PP-147 by-polls on Tuesday issued directions to remove over-sized hoardings, banners and streamers after receiving written replies from the candidates, including Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan on complaint that both candidates were crossing expenses limit and violating the code of conduct.
The RO Zahid Iqbal issued these directions after receiving a complaint from the PPP candidate Barrister Amer Hasan. He contended that both PML-N and PTI candidates were violating the ECP code of conduct and crossing the expenses limit fixed by the ECP. He said that both contestants violating the rules devised by the ECP during their election campaign but the authorities concerned were not taking action against them.
However, on Tuesday, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan submitted their replies to the RO. The both replies were of the same nature as they contended that they were following election rules and regulations and had not crossed the election expenses fixed by the ECP. Moreover, they said that the over-sized hoardings and banners might have been placed by their supporters and their supporters were not issued any directions to place such banners and hoardings. They said that now they had stopped their supporters to place over-sized advertisement banners, hoardings and streamers.
The RO after receiving replies directed the authorities concerned to remove over-sized banners, hoardings and streamers.
