A special vehicle recovery unit of CIA has arrested 11 members of two gangs of car and motorcycle thieves and recovered 21 stolen cars, 36 motorcycles and five rickshaws worth more than 2.5 crore rupees.
This was informed by SSP CIA Muhammad Umar Virk while addressing a press conference at Police Line Qila Gujar Singh. The SSP said that stolen vehicles and cars were used in crimes including terrorism due to which on the instructions of CCPO Lahore Capt. (R) Muhammad Amin Wains, a special unit of CIA had been set up to check the incidents of car and motorcycle lifting.
He said that the unit would set up checkpoints at 50 different places in the city. He said that the unit had started operation during which 21 cars, 36 motorcycles and five auto rickshaws worth Rs. 2.5 crore have been recovered which is proof of its efficiency.
He said that the unit will also conduct raids in different provinces for the recovery of stolen cars sent to other provinces and use modern technology as well as resources for breaking the network of car and motorcycle lifters. Umar Virk also handed over recovered cars and motorcycles to their owners.
