LANDIKOTAL: The Khassadar personnel foiled a bid to smuggle fake Pakistani currency in Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency and arrested the carriers, sources said on Saturday.
They said the Khassadars flagged down a car (LRP-1252) at Bara Gate checkpost near Takhtabaig and recovered 0.4 million rupees of fake Pakistani currency from the possessions of those travelling in the car.
Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Ismail and Sher Afzal, residents of Peshawar. The arrestees along with the seized car and fake currency were shifted to Jamrud lockup.
Meanwhile, the religious scholars in Landikotal have announced a ban on women’s dancing at ceremonies in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber Agency and said the violators will be fined and imprisoned.
Omer Binori told reporters that the religious scholars and prayer leaders at a meeting agreed to ban all ‘vulgar’ practices during wedding ceremonies. Sahibzada said dancing of women in weddings would strictly be prohibited.
