LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will continue fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities (CSR), said its president Sheikh Muhammad Arshad on Saturday.
Arshad, in a statement, said LCCI will extend maximum cooperation to the Sundas Foundation in its efforts for provision of health facilities to thalassaemia victims.
The head of Sundas Foundation said that lack of awareness among Pakistani masses about haemophilia and the harmful results of intermarriages was the main reason for the cases of the crippling disease. In remarks on a visit to the Chamber, he said the genetically transmitted blood disorder, which affects millions of people around the world, could be tackled in Pakistan only if consanguineous marriages—those between blood relations—were effectively discouraged.
