Head of the CPLC South Zone Zubair Habib was appointed in place of the outgoing chief.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad while presiding over a meeting took the decision in consensus with the CPLC’s board members. The annual progress report of the CPLC for the year 2014-15 was also reviewed.
The meeting’s participants emphasised over expanding the CPLC’s area of operation in to other districts of the province. Establishing field and area offices of the CPLC in other districts and cities of the province was also discussed.
A similar office of the committee had already been established in Hyderabad in order to form a task force for the organisation.
The Governor directed the CPLC to work in close coordination with Sindh Rangers and police for countering street crimes and other criminal activities in the city.
The participants commended the services of Chinoy, as during his five-year stint as chief 95 percent of the 658 criminal cases of kidnapping for ransom reported were successfully dealt with. Some 126 criminals leading such activities were killed during actions by the law enforcement agencies personnel with the CPLC’s support.
Functioning of the CPLC’s call centre, manned by 60 operators, to receive complaints of criminal activities was also brought into discussion.
