250 policemen deputed in Karachi’s south district tested for infectious diseases

Blood samples of 250 police officers and personnel deputed in the city’s south district were collected on Thursday for the testing of various infectious diseases.

The city police spokesman said the blood samples of the policemen were collected at the auditorium of the Sindh Boy Scouts Association. This is the second phase of the clinical testing and screening of the police force in collaboration with Dr Farhan Essa and Murad Soni.

The policemen were tested for malaria, hepatitis, AIDS, and coronavirus. A team of the Dr Essa Laboratories collected the blood samples on the occasion.

Additional Inspector General of Karachi Police Ghulam Nabi Memon was present on the occasion along with the DIG South. Dr Farhan Essa delivered a lecture to make the police personnel aware about the spread of infectious diseases.

Dr Essa said it was a welcoming sign that none of the police personnel tested on the occasion had had the symptoms of the coronavirus.

Speaking on the occasion, the city police chief appreciated the services of Dr Farhan Essa and his team members for the policemen during the present crisis. He said the police personnel should fully take care of their health while performing duties during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said the policemen were supposed to be healthy in order to discharge their duties with the best of abilities. The Karachi police chief said the police personnel who attended the awareness programme should share its message and findings with their colleagues and family members.

He said testing and awareness programmes would be held for the police personnel deputed in other districts of the city. He thanked Dr Farhan Essa, Murad Soni, and the Dr Essa Laboratories for their services to do the clinical testing of the policemen.
