FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) president Engineer Rizwan Ashraf Tuesdays said the FCCI has made landmark achievements during 2014 in terms of growth of trade and industry in Faisalabad.
Talking to reporters, He said the FCCI is the third largest chamber which has also been ranked second in revenue generation. “It has successfully played a proactive role in resolving issues confronted by the business community and still is making efforts to resolve the pending problems”, he said. Rizwan said the FCCI also served as the major spokesman of the people of Faisalabad and in this regard it made hectic activities and managed to start direct international flights from the city. He said more airlines would start operation from the city. He said another proposal of construction of a new airport near M-3 industrial estate was also under consideration. He said third floor of FCCI complex has also been completed. The space has been rented out to the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) and other commercial entities. He said five FCCI delegations visited various countries, saying arrangements have been made with Chinese embassy to issue business visas on the recommendations of the FCCI, and similar arrangements are also being made with other embassies.
Rizwan said the FCCI played a major role in resolving environment related issues of the city. The FCCI and other associations also took the responsibility to make the canal road lush green after its expansion. He claimed that 90 per cent industrial units have installed wet scrubbers and hence the smoke emitted from these factories is clean as compared to the smokes of other cities. HE said on the recommendation of FCCI government is trying set up a combined water treatment plant outside the city area. He said the FCCI also tried to cultivate good working relations with various local departments. He said apart from cultivating good ties with embassies and ministries, we invited many diplomats who visited us. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan also visited FCCI and addressed traders of Faisalabad.
