59 engineers posted in local govt

LAHORE : The Punjab Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department has appointed newly recruited 59 grade 17 engineers in its different local governments across the province after receiving recommendations from PPSC.

Officials said the department is in the process of improving strength of its human resource. They said as per the directions of the chief minister and policy of the government, recruitments are being made through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in order to ensure the recruitment process pretty transparent and merit based.

According to a notification, 59 grade 17 engineers have been given postings as metropolitan, municipal and tehsil officers (Infrastructure and Services).

Two engineers have been posted as metropolitan officers i.e. Zulqarnain Shah in Metropolitan Corporation Faisalabad, Ibrahim Kamal in Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi. Fifty-one municipal officers have been posted. Seven officers have been posted as tehsil officers i.e. Abid Fareed in Tehsil Council Dunyapur, Lodharan, Ghulam Hamza in Tehsil Council Mailsi, Vehari, Hafiz Talat Mehmood in Tehsil Council Toba Tek Singh, Muhammad Talha Hussain in Tehsil Council Bhakar, Muhammad Uzair Arshad in Tehsil Council Burewala, Vehari, Sajid Raza in Tehsil Council Chishtian, Bahawalnagar and Ehsan Ullah in Tehsil Council Gujrat.

The postings of the newly-recruited officers would help reduce the work pressure and burden on the officers who are holding additional charges.

LG&CD Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi said that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmad Buzdar has extended best wishes to the officers and hoped that they would serve the people with best of their energies, noble intentions and capabilities in the local governments so the vision of the government to strengthen LGs in Punjab could be transformed into reality.

According to Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, his department has received recommendation letters from PPSC for more 102 officers that would soon be on board and would further help the organisation improve its working and service delivery.
