RAWALPINDI: The supermodel Ayyan Ali appeared before Rawalpindi Banking Court for the seventeenth time in the currency smuggling case on Monday however her indictment has been deferred once again.
The hearing of currency smuggling case against supermodel Ayyan Ali was adjourned without any further proceedings till October 8 after the indictment of Ayyan Ali was deferred again due to absence of Special Customs Court Judge Rana Aftab.
The supermodel appeared before the court of Customs Judge Rana Aftab, where she was to be indicted in the currency smuggling case. However, the judge was on leave and she appeared before Banking Court Judge Sabir Sultan. The court, without any proceeding, adjourned the hearing until October 8.
Talking to media before hearing Ayyan Ali said that she respected the media but she was saddened when the reports surfaced on media without any authenticity. She declared the currency smuggling case against her false and vowed that she would prove her innocence in court. She said that I needed media support as I was already faced worst kind of problems in Adiala Jail for four months. It is worth mentioning here that customs authorities have failed to present a detailed challan of supermodel Ayyan Ali even after six months.
Ayyan Ali was detained at the Islamabad airport on March 14 as she waited in a VIP lounge before her Dubai flight. Pakistani law bars any passenger from carrying over $10,000 and investigators say they found $506,800 tucked into her luggage. She has maintained the money was solely hers since her arrest.
