LAHORE
Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) will provide free registration to 14,000 uncertified skilled people through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme during this year.
Chairperson Tevta Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing the meeting to review the progress of second phase of RPL for uncertified skilled force through Ustad Shagird System further said during the last two weeks, 6,000 uncertified skilled people had been registered across Punjab with Trade Testing Board (TTB). He further said that it was completely free-of-cost system and helped those who could not acquire skills from formal technical education system.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran has directed the Chairmen of Local and District Zakat Committees to submit a report after compiling final lists of deserving persons for subsistence allowance so that funds could be provided at the earliest. He said this while presiding over a review meeting regarding subsistence allowance and distribution of scholarships among under-training students of vocational training institutes under the administrative control of Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) on Monday. Secretary Zakat and Ushr Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other officers concerned were present in the meeting.
The minister said transparent distribution of Rs1.28 billion allocated for subsistence allowance among genuine persons was the top priority of the government. He directed that circulars should be issued to district and local committees to submit lists for this purpose so that more than 106900 people could be benefited. He stressed upon the chairmen to select the deserving people only on merit and give preference to the poorest on the poor in this regard.
