Sirajul Haq decries Centre-Sindh rift on lockdown
LAHORE:JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has decried the ‘tug of war’ between the federal and Sindh governments over the strategy of lockdown and preventive measures against coronavirus, saying it was height of misfortune that even a highly sensitive issue of public health had become a matter of political mileage.
Even the wild animals in jungle got together in the hour of affliction but the rulers and political elite were heartless to the extent that they were at war with one another in the face of a deadly virus attack, he said while addressing JI district leadership of Sindh province, including Karachi and Hyderabad through a video link from Mansoorah.
Sirajul Haq said the 72 years history of Jamaat e Islami was full of service to the country and the nation. He said JI workers and leaders had always served the people in the interior Sindh including far off towns and Goths but their lives were not safe and they were being targeted. He said one JI worker was shot down while two others sustained serious injuries while distributing ration packs to the poor.
Strongly condemning the incident of terrorism, he called for immediate arrest of the culprits. He said JI was setting up a global think tank through which world fame doctors, and physicians, and prominent people attached to the health sector would be brought on line for the benefit of the human beings. He said JI’s movement of service to humanity and repentance before Allah would continue as these were not the need of any specific time. Strongly condemning the elements busy in profiteering in the present critical, and said these people had no fear of Allah as they were taking undue advantage of the hardships of the masses.
Sirajul Haq said it was unfortunate that doctors and paramedics fighting on the front line of the virus had not been provided safety kits and there were reports of the doctors contracting the virus but the authorities were not moved. He lauded the services being rendered by JI workers and its sister bodies to the people in distress.
Earlier, while talking to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on video link, Senator Sirajul Haq has suggested him to convene a special meeting of the Senate Advisory committee to discuss the problems being faced by the overseas Pakistanis because of the corona virus. He also urged the government to arrange the repatriation of thousands of Pakistanis stranded in Saudi Arabia, US, UAE, Europe and other countries. Besides, he said, dead bodies of Pakistanis abroad should be brought to the country without further delay.
