Labour leaders welcome decision to open factories
LAHORE:Leaders of Mutahidda Labour Federation and Pakistan Mazdoor Mahaz appreciated the Punjab government’s notification of opening 32 export-oriented factories.
The labour leaders, Altaf Baloch, M Yaqub, Shaukat Chaudhry, Fazle Wahid, Ishtiaq Chaudhry Advocate, Hanif Ramay and M Akbar appreciated the decision of the government, saying it would lead to employment of a good number of workers. But they also cautioned that safety measures against coronavirus must be followed. They said all workers should be provided with at least two washable facemasks each by their factories. The factories must make the masks available at the gates and no worker should be allowed to enter the factories without wearing a mask.
It should be ensured the workers wear the masks at all the time in the factories. Other safety checks and steps should be followed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the labour leaders stressed. They stated, “We will create monitoring committees to assess whether workers are safe at work and the Labour Department and other institutions concerned are playing their due role in the regard.”
