The mercury touched 41 degrees Celsius in Karachi on Sunday under the influence of a mild and brief heat wave that has gripped Karachi for the last two days, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said, adding that the temperature would start normalising in the city from today (Monday).
“The temperature reached 41 degrees Celsius on Sunday while 40.3 degrees Celsius was recorded the previous day as the sea breeze remained cut off towards Karachi for two days. Weather it would start improving in the city from today (Monday)," said Sardar Sarfraz, chief meteorological officer of the PMD, while talking to The News.
He maintained that it was a mild and brief heatwave that ended within two days, and added that the temperature would start dropping from Monday and Tuesday. He said they were expecting some clouds to cover the skies above the city with the maximum temperature reaching 32 degrees Celsius.
The PMD official maintained that weather would remain pleasant and bearable in the city till the end of April. He added that a full-blown summer would commence in the last days of April and the start of May when people in Karachi would be observing the holy month of Ramazan.
