Sugar, wheat crises: PM’s biggest test, says Sh Rashid
RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Tuesday said the ball was now in the federal government’s court and it was Prime Minister’s Imran Khan’s biggest test what action he would take against those responsible for the sugar and flour crises.
Talking to the media persons here, he said the investigation report released by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan was a great achievement of the PTI government.
He rejected the impression that there were now two groups in the government after the inquiry report became public.
Referring to the federal cabinet reshuffle, Sheikh Rashid said the captain had only repositioned his fielders.
He said the FIA investigation report on the sugar and flour crises was released before time and opined that it should have been issued on April 25.
The railways minister said whosoever was involved in the sugar and wheat crises should get an exemplary punishment.
Sheikh also claimed that he first raised the issue of wheat and sugar crisis in the Economic Coordination Council (ECC) and cabinet meeting.
He said Asad Umar did not give subsidy to anyone adding that Jahangir Tareen had warm relations with Prime Minister Imran Khan and will remain so.
He said the country had a few ruling families and businessmen were doing politics.
“The premier playing as the captain is changing the position of fielders as per the country’s conditions,” he said, adding that the captain could change fielding anytime. The minister said the sugar and flour crises had sidelined the novel coronavirus. “Politics in Pakistan will be in full swing after the Ramzan,” he predicted.
