Rs8b allocated for purchase of medical equipment: CM Mahmood Khan

MARDAN: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said on Tuesday that the provincial government had allocated Rs8 billion to provide equipment to hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was talking to reporters after visiting the quarantine centre established at the Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) in Mardan. He reviewed the arrangements. The chief minister paid rich tributes to the doctors and health employees said that they were performing duty on frontlines in the battle against the coronavirus. The chief minister said that soon a corona testing laboratory would be established in Mardan.

He vowed that the government would spare no effort to facilitate the doctors and the paramedics. He added that the government was committed to fighting this pandemic and vowed to bring the situation under control. However, he added that it was not possible without the support of the masses to win this battle. He added that the lockdown was ordered to save lives. Mahmood Khan appealed to the residents of the province to follow the precautionary measures and practice social distancing to stay safe.

Mahmood Khan hoped that the situation would soon improve. He added that some equipment had been purchased, saying there was shortage of equipment in the market. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers Amir Farzand Khan, Abdus Salam Afridi, Malik Shaukat, Regional Police Officer Sher Akbar Khan, District Police Officer Mohammad Sajjad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abid Wazir, and others were present on the occasion. Earlier, the chief minister held a meeting with the district administration and doctors.
