Field hospitals being established: CS

LAHORE :Punjab Chief Secretary Major (r) Azam Suleman Khan has said that field hospitals for coronavirus patients are being established across the province on the pattern of the hospitals set up in Expo Centre, Lahore, and two similar health facilities would be functional in Rawalpindi and Jhelum within next three days.

The chief secretary (CS) expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held review the measure to curb spread of coronavirus, SOPs for companies in construction sector and strategy to send pilgrims to their hometowns. Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastgir, Lahore Division Commissioner Saif Anjum and other officers concerned were present on the occasion.

The chief secretary said that all possible resources were being utilised to contain the spread of coronavirus in the province, adding that protection of people as well doctors and paramedics was priority of the Punjab government. He also issued instructions to the officers to submit their suggestions to finalise a strategy about the construction industry.

The meeting was briefed that process of quarantine and testing of pilgrims in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan had completed and those to be tested negative for coronavirus would be sent to their hometowns whereas others would be quarantined for more 14 days. The Rawalpindi division commissioner said that arrangements had been finalised in Rawalpindi to quarantine the passengers coming from Canada and other countries.
