No more proceedings in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case
LAHORE: The accountability court has stopped proceedings against the Sharif family members -- Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and nephew Yousaf Abbas -- till filing of a reference in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
Issuing a verdict on Nawaz Sharif and others’ exemption from personal appearance applications, Accountability Admin Judge Jawadul Hassan adjourned the hearing till further orders. The judge remarked in the written verdict that hearing a case without filing of a reference was akin to wasting the court time. The verdict said the accused would be summoned after filing of the reference The court also ordered for consigning the case record to the court office till resumption of the case proceedings. All nominated accused in the case including former premier Nawaz Sharif had already been on bail from the Lahore High Court.
