535 foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat stuck in KP
PESHAWAR: As many as 535 coronas suspected foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat have been shifted to quarantine centers in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
Eight of them were admitted to different hospitals after tested positive of corona virus. Foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat came to the KP before the outbreak of corona and got trapped in various areas of the province. The KP government has sent them to quarantine centers due to corona pandemic but most of them have voluntarily isolated themselves in their mosques and Tablighi centers.
According to official reports, Chinese, French, South African, Belgian, Jordanians, Qatari, Afghan, Kyrgyz, Yemeni, South African, Nigerian, Thai, Moroccans, Indonesian, Malaysian, Pilipino, Saudi Arabian, Sri Lankan, Brazilian, Somali, Syrian and Kenyan nationals are stuck in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Advisor to Chief Minister KP on information Ajmal Wazir told this scribe that foreign nationals of the Tablighi Jamaat came to KP before the outbreak of corona virus and now they are stuck in different cities. They had already suspended their activities and were now shifted to government or private quarantine centers.
Those found positive have been shifted to different hospitals and their treatment has started. They have been provided all possible facilities with dignity and respect.
Official sources confirmed that eight foreigners were found corona positive and have been shifted to hospitals for further treatment while the rest of the members were quarantined in their areas. Suspected patients were quarantined in hotels, schools, mosques and Tablighi centers.
According to official documents, a Chinese resident in Peshawar tested positive with corona virus has been admitted to Police Hospital whereas three Jordanian, three Qataris and one South African have been sent to quarantine centers in Peshawar.
Twenty-four foreigners were quarantined at Charsadda, including six Africans, seven Afghans, five each from Kyrgyzstan and China. Two Philippine nationals were shifted to a quarantine center in Nowshera.
Meanwhile, 106 foreigners stuck in Swabi district are four Malaysians, one Thai, 56 Afghans, six South Africans, four Indonesians, three Brazilians, three Somalians, seven Iranian, five Yemenis, six Nigerians and one Chinese. Eight members of the Tabeeghi Jamaat from Jordon are also in Swabi.
Three foreigners out of 182 in Mardan have been tested positive and shifted to the Mardan Medical Complex. The other suspected foreigners are 52 from Afghanistan, 27 Chinese, six Jordanians, six French, 12 Algerians, six South Africans, four Moroccons, 12 Indonesians, 10 Philippinoes, three Saudis, one Sri Lankan, five Thais, three Tunisians , four Syrians, six Brazilian, seven Kyrgyzstanis, six Malaysian and one Belgian. Twelve Afghans, one Kenyan and four each from Somalia and Kirgizstan have also been shifted to the quarantine centers in Mardan.
There are 10 people from Kirgizstan in Abbottabad and three were infected by corona virus and sent to the hospital for treatment while seven suspected have been isolated.
One Malaysian was tested positive and sent to Kohat District Hospital for further treatment. Seven Afghan nationals were quarantined after being suspected patients. It is also learnt that 173 foreign nationals came to Khyber district but their nationalities are not known yet.
