ISLAMABAD: Britain was ready to provide any assistance to Pakistan, if required, in the form of aid through Department for International Development (DFID), assured British High Commissioner Dr Christian Turner, here on Thursday.
Talking to Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh at the Finance Division, Dr Turner said the UK fully supported Pakistan government’s efforts to provide relief to its people. In the times of global crisis, he said, the British government stood with the people of Pakistan to further strengthen their already well-established relationship, according to a press statement issued by the Finance Ministry.
Shaikh expressed his and government’s condolences with the British high commissioner on coronavirus deaths. The PM’s adviser said it was a testing situation for the nations across the world and every loss of life was a cause of concern.
He shared with the British envoy the losses that have taken place due to the pandemic and the public relief strategy adopted by Pakistan. Shaikh thanked Dr Turner for his support and assistance in the hour of need, the statement added.
