MANSEHRA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior vice-president Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Thursday said the government had failed to check increase in wheat flour prices in the district.

“I have taken up the issue with the commissioner Hazara Division that points fixed by district administration to sell wheat flour on the subsidised price are running short of the commodity due to which the prices of the commodity in the market has increased,” Sardar Yousuf told a news conference here. Sardar Yousuf, who is also the parliamentary leader of the PML-N in KP Assembly, said that there was acute shortage of wheat flour in Konsh valley, Siren valley and Balakot Tehsil but government couldn’t ensure supply of that commodity at points which it established across district.

He said that his party was not against current lockdown notified by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government across province but people should be provided the promised incentives. “If the government is sincere in its effort to contain outbreak of Covid-19, it should first equip medical staff with protection gears as doctors and medics are working without all these facilities,” Sardar Yousuf maintained. The former federal minister said that the government should not only ensure prompt delivery of relief package announced by it for unemployed daily wage workers but its target ratio of 1.5 should also enhance to benefit almost all those without work since lockdown.
