FBR expedites refund process
KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made member Inland Revenue (Operations) as focal person to redress complaints regarding tax refunds.
In a circular issued on Tuesday, the revenue board nominated the member IR Operations to resolve the problems of taxpayers pertaining to refunds of income and sales tax. As a part of the government policy in the current challenging times, the tax authorities are in the process of devising a transparent centralised system for the issuance of income tax, sales tax and duty drawback refunds to the taxpayers in an expeditious manner, it said.
This process is being undertaken to facilitate the taxpayers across the country during this exercise. The FBR said this endeavour may not be effective without full commitment by all the stakeholders, especially the taxpayers to stand with this resolve. This refund initiative is aimed at being flawless, the FBR said, adding that it needs full support of all the stakeholders, especially the taxpayers.
