Christians protest arrest of VC AWKU

MARDAN: Christians staged protest outside the Mardan Press Club on Saturday, condemning the arrest of Abdul Wali Khan University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ihsan Ali by the NAB KP. Led by Jan, Kamal Masih, Dr Azeem and other members of Northern Dioceses Mardan Church of Pakistan, the protesters chanted slogans in support of the arrested vice-chancellor. The speakers condemned the arrest of Dr Ihsan Ali and said that arrest of educationists by NAB was unfair. They said the nation gave respect to its educationists while the NAB arrested them. They said Dr Ali had set up nine universities and contributed to archeology sector in the province. They said the government awarded him “Sitara-e-Imtiaz” for his contribution in education and archeology. They demanded his immediate release.
