Govt has left the poor alone, says Sirajul Haq
LAHORE: Jamaat Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has lamented that country had no dearth of talented and intelligent doctors but governments never patronised them to grow further, nor provided them necessary equipment which made the country beg the world for corona prevention kits, and petty stuff like masks, gloves etc .
The government has left the poor masses alone and deserted in this time of trial as the basic necessities are fast exhausting and they are without livelihood, he said while addressing media and workers at the Al-Khidmat headquarters after reviewing the plan of transporting protective masks, gloves and ration packs etc to the entire country on Saturday. Sirajul Haq expressed sorrow that an estimated over 7 million daily wage workers were looking up to government’s help but it had neither begun providing rations and protective masks etc. nor the relief package it had announced many days ago.
He expressed satisfaction that JI had was again in the field for lessening the troubles of people and providng them with relief in this hour of trial. He said thousands of JI workers were providing food and rations to the deserving and unemployed, while its hospitals, dispensaries, ambulances, doctors and paramedical staff were at the forefront of service day and night. He said coronavirus had exposed the failure and fragility of science and technology in protecting mankind from calamities. He said his party expressed gratitude and salutations to thousands of health workers and relief workers who were out at the forefront to protect and help out the troubled humanity. He said so far Al-Khidmat Foundation had distributed rations and food supplies to the poor and needy in lockdown-affected areas amounting to 290 million rupees without official help, besides providing medical equipment and protective gear to health professionals amounting to 100 million rupees.
He appealed to the masses that besides taking all necessary precautions they essentially needed to appease Almighty Allah and repent for collective and individual sins before Him to ward off the ruinous epidemic threatening the lives of all human beings. He asked the people to make a schedule of reciting the Quran and prayers during their quarantine days, besides pleasing Almighty in every possible way.
